Yes, you can still own an HDB flat if you have declared bankruptcy, provided that one of the flat owners is a Singapore citizen. The HDB flat will not vest in the Official Assignee in the event of bankruptcy. However, if the flat was financed with a mortgage loan from a bank or HDB, the flat may be sold by the bank through a mortgagee sale or compulsorily acquired by HDB if there is a default in mortgage repayment.
For bankrupt flat owners of Singapore Permanent Resident households, they must obtain the Official Assignee's consent before selling their flat.
