Can I park on a road with no white line markings?

In Singapore, even if a road has no white line markings, there are still several factors to consider before parking:

Road Markings

  • If there are no lines on either side of the road and the lane divider is a single non-continuous white line, you are generally allowed to park on both sides of the road. However, you must ensure that your parking does not block any entrances or obstruct the flow of traffic.

Road Signs

  • Check for any 'No Waiting' or 'No Stopping' signs along the road. If these signs are present, parking is not allowed at those locations, regardless of the absence of road markings.

Location-Based Restrictions

  • You cannot park within three meters of a fire hydrant, six meters of a traffic junction, or nine meters of a bus stop. You also cannot park within a pedestrian crossing or in a way that blocks another vehicle from entering or exiting.

Double-Parking

  • Parking abreast of another vehicle (double-parking) is strictly prohibited and can result in fines and demerit points.
By adhering to these guidelines, you can ensure that your parking is legal and does not cause any obstruction or inconvenience to other road users.
