Does HDB MOP restart when flat is inherited by a 1st timer?

When an HDB flat is inherited, the Minimum Occupation Period (MOP) does not restart for the beneficiary. If the deceased owner had not completed the MOP, the beneficiary must continue to fulfil this period before they can sell the flat. This means that the beneficiary will have to wait out the remaining MOP period from the date it was initially started by the deceased owner.
For example, if the deceased owner had lived in the flat for 3 years out of the 5-year MOP, the beneficiary would need to occupy the flat for the remaining 2 years before they can sell it. If the beneficiary was already an occupier of the flat prior to the demise of the original owner, the MOP will continue from the time they were first included as occupiers. Otherwise, they will need to start a fresh MOP after taking over ownership of the flat.
