If I fail to get a ballot in SOB, can I change to BTO

If you fail to get a ballot in the Sale of Balance Flats (SBF) exercise, you can still apply for a Build-To-Order (BTO) flat. The SBF and BTO exercises are separate processes, and participation in one does not preclude you from applying for the other.
Here are some key points to consider:
- Priority Schemes: First-timer families, especially those with children or married couples aged 40 and below, receive priority allocation in both SBF and BTO exercises. If you have been unsuccessful in two or more BTO attempts for a Standard flat in non-mature estates, you will receive additional ballot chances for each subsequent application.
- Application Process: You can apply for BTO flats in the regular BTO exercises, which are typically held quarterly. Each application is independent, so failing to secure a flat in the SBF exercise does not affect your chances in the BTO exercise.
- Non-Selection Count: If you are invited to select a flat in either the SBF or BTO exercise but do not book it, you may face restrictions, such as being deemed a second-timer for a year. However, there are exceptions and flexibility for applicants with limited choices or extenuating circumstances.
You can continue to apply for BTO flats in subsequent exercises, and if you meet the criteria, you may benefit from additional ballot chances and priority schemes.
