In a recent amendment to the Urban Redevelopment Authority’s (URA) 2019 masterplan, three residential plots in Tanjong Rhu were re-parcelled with an increase in plot ratios, paving the way for new high-rise housing developments. Analysts predict that these sites, located at the city fringe, could accommodate more than 5,000 new homes. Provisions for future road widening have also been included to support the additional traffic from these new residences.
In June 2024, the Tanjong Rhu Riverfront I and II public housing projects were launched, featuring over 2,000 units. These developments are among the largest PLH projects introduced by the Housing Development Board (HDB). Tanjong Rhu Riverfront I will include a one-storey ancillary block designed to accommodate a preschool. Meanwhile, Tanjong Rhu Riverfront II will feature a two-storey ancillary block with a preschool and restaurants, as well as another two-storey commercial block that will house an eating house, supermarket, and various shops.
