During the 2024 National Day Rally, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong outlined the development plans for Kallang Alive, a masterplan that envisions the future of the area surrounding the Sports Hub.
As part of these plans, the Singapore Sports School will relocate from its current site in Woodlands to the Sports Hub. The move will be accompanied by the addition of new training and sports science facilities, ensuring Singaporean athletes are well-prepared to compete at the highest international level.
The Singapore Indoor Stadium will also be replaced by a modern 18,000-seat venue, capable of hosting major global events and giving local athletes the advantage of competing on home ground.
Additionally, the main road through the Sports Hub will be transformed into a pedestrian-friendly community boulevard, lined with sports facilities and activities.
The government plans on turning Kallang into a vibrant lifestyle destination where people can watch more sports and entertainment events, participate in sports, and spend quality time with their families.
